The election elevator: RNI down 36, PJD up 41

The 2026 results show what Morocco does with its parties every five years.

The news

The Interior Ministry confirmed final results on 26 September 2026: PAM 97 seats (+10), RNI 66 (−36), Istiqlal 65 (−16), PJD 54 (+41).

Next came the Popular Movement with 29 seats, USFP 26, PPS 19 and UC 17.

No party reached the absolute majority threshold of 198 seats.

The commentary

Satirical opinion from the editors

In 2021, the PJD fell to 13 seats and people said the RNI had found the recipe. Five years later the elevator ran the other way, and the promises stayed in the basement.

The lesson is simple: the elevator goes up and down, but citizens always take the stairs.
